Scope of Work:
Our engagement involved close collaboration with the existing 14 staff members and volunteers of the charity. We took charge of crafting and executing a diverse array of internal and external communications strategies for the Sickle Cell Society. This included overseeing the management of the organisation’s online Social Media Channels, orchestrating the creation of the Annual Report and Impact Report, acting as Editor for Members’ Newsletters, maintaining the SCS Website, marketing Awareness Events, and spearheading campaigns tied to significant occasions such as Black History Month and World Sickle Cell Day, among others.
Key Projects:
One of our notable achievements was the international “Priapism” Campaign, a collaborative effort with esteemed institutions like Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust London, Boston Scientific Europe, and Elara Systems, California USA. Additionally, we played a pivotal role in managing communications for several significant events, including the follow-up response to the APPG’s “No one’s Listening” Report, following the inquiry into avoidable deaths and failures of care for sickle cell patients, the society’s reaction to the EMA and CHMP updates on Crizanlizumab as a treatment for those with Sickle Cell, and the promotion of the Spectra Optia survey in partnership
with NHS England.
Noteworthy Achievements:
Our team also orchestrated communications efforts surrounding World Sickle Cell Day, Rare Disease Day, Black History Month, the Windrush Anniversary, and our Patrons’ substantial involvement in the Coronation of King Charles III, among various other events that necessitated a coordinated communications response on behalf of the society.
Collaboration and Impact:
Working closely with the Society’s CEO, John James OBE, we ensured that all communication initiatives aligned seamlessly with the organisation’s mission and objectives. Our collaborative approach facilitated effective communication both internally and externally, enhancing the Society’s visibility and impact within the community.
Conclusion:
Our tenure with the Sickle Cell Society exemplified our commitment to delivering comprehensive and impactful communications solutions. By working hand-in-hand with the organisation’s stakeholders, we facilitated the dissemination of crucial information, fostered community engagement, and ultimately contributed to advancing the Society’s mission of supporting individuals affected by Sickle Cell.
